There’s plenty of news and information to pass along: men’s and women’s groups, Sunday mixed doubles and the need for tournament/event directors.

Painting Recap: Last Saturday’s painting workday was a success. The snowboards on courts 2 and 3 were scraped, sanded and painted. Thanks to John Chatillon for coordinating.

Mixed Doubles: Looking for some mixed doubles? Betsy Morgan has you covered. She reports the popular Sunday mixed doubles will begin play on October 13th. The 3:30 group is intended for intermediate level players; the 5:00 group will be for intermediate/advanced players. Registration is done through the TeamReach app. To install the app on your phone, Betsy has provided these Instructions:

If you have an iPhone, go to :

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/teamreach-team-management/id1101253705

If you have an Android device, go to: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teamreach.app

In both cases, you will need a password. Enter code EPTCMIX. Please note, each player needs their own account as people sign up as individuals, even if you are playing as a team. That’s not to say individuals aren’t welcome. Betsy will pair you up! Should you have any questions, Betsy may be reached at [email protected].

Women’s Group: Beth Cote, Karen Cole and Karen Bachand will continue to organize the women’s league play on Mondays and Thursdays in the 3:30, 5:00 & 6:30 pm time slots. Kick off for this will be on Monday Oct 7th. Sign up will also be done on TeamReach. The installation instructions are the same as above; however, it is done under EPTC women’s paddle. Enter the group code: Essexwomens. If you should have any questions, please contact one of them: Beth Cote at [email protected]; Karen Cole at [email protected]; or Karen Bachand at [email protected].

Men’s Group: John Morgan ([email protected]) reports he again will be scheduling games for the men’s group. As of this writing, he is still working on details but wants everyone to know he intends the men to begin play the first week of October.

Tournament and Event Directors: Interested in directing or helping run a tournament or club event this season? If so, Dan DaRos would like to speak with you. He’s currently confirming past tournament directors as well as recruiting new ones, so if you are interested, please contact him at [email protected]. Don’t worry if you may not have the background or experience necessary to run an event; you can team up with someone who has. It’s a great way to contribute to the club.

Until next time,

Jamey Burns (on behalf of the Board of Directors)
