Second Annual ‘Rally for the Cure’ a Big Success

  • October 17, 2017

Fifteen women (9 EPTC members, plus 6 guests from neighboring clubs) “Rallied for the Cure” on Tuesday, October 17th at EPTC for this Second Annual event in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month (October) and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The $1,000 raised this year (matching last year’s donation) will help to fund mammograms for women without health insurance coverage in Southeastern Connecticut, as well as National research to find a cure.

We are thankful to Mary Harrington – who organized the event this year, which included a delicious potluck breakfast buffet, a goody bag for each player – with pink ribbon insulated travel mug and hand towel for all participants – and individually wrapped handmade chocolates from our new neighbors the Essex Chocolatier and Coffee Bar.  Mary also provided some great prizes: Anne Foley won the Pasta Vita gift card for “best PINK dressed”, and Mary Mesek won the drawing for a gift certificate to Abby’s Place restaurant in Essex.

A sunny morning of paddle, with constantly shifting partners and opponents in a round robin format, provided all the players a great opportunity to get outside to exercise, while donating significantly to a worthwhile cause.
